EMERGENCY AID TO THE COMMUNITY' IN GREEK (TULCEA)
One of the lesser-known pages of the relations between Italy and Romania is represented on earth Romena Italian emigration, particularly among these is represented by stonemasons from Friuli and Veneto, which in 1864 found work in granite quarries that are still on the bottom of the Greeks in the small town of Tulcea.
In this village has 6,000 inhabitants, there is still a small group of 130 people who are fluent in the dialect of Friuli, or who gather around Belluno small Catholic church, which this year marks the centenary of the foundation, with great sacrifice that has managed to build an oratory where lessons in Italian, English and French and attended the city open to all without distinction between Catholics and Orthodox, Romanians, Italians or apparent to many nationalities making up Romania.
The function of the Italian school of the Greeks, built by sacrificing the private residence of the pastor, is to be able to preserve tradition and memory of the Italian presence in the Danube delta, even when the last descendants of the Italians will all be dead, as well as represent a true act of patriotism and Italian. The majority both of these brothers of charity and in the blood is made up of older children of these Italians in Romania are left for the big cities have taken the route of return migration to find work in places where they had left their grandparents.
The average age of our compatriots, in Romania, is about 60/70 years, many of them try to survive on the pension but there are many who live in absolute poverty. This outpost of Italy in Romania seems to have been abandoned land that is why I feel a moral duty to bring knowledge of the public position of this front to help the elderly of this community for over 150 years and remains faithful to its roots which is a piece of Italian history in the land of Romania.
